Would you like to learn more about your ancestry? Specifically, Peleg Moon is my gggg-grandfather. Benoni was the brother of my ggg-grandfather, Thomas.
Have much, much information on Moon clan back to Robert “Moone” (as he spelled it), a tailor, who emigrated to Boston & Newport from Devonshire c.1641. Including Gideon’s service in War of 1812; Thomas in Revolution at Battle of Saratoga; Peleg in French & Indian (his deer-hide covered diary in NY State Museum); Hannah is the second wife of Benoni; the family connection to the invention of the potato chip in 1853 (Saratoga Chip at Moon’s Lake House in Saratoga, NY). Last connection of information I have on your branch of the family is the marriage of Azuba to G.F. Perkins, and that she joined the DAR in 1935.
But several of us across the country have been searching for years to find connection to Robert’s father and earlier generations. We know of Maxmillian, but never been able to prove link between him and Robert. What are your sources? Can you share?
Thanks.
Your neighbor in Evanston,
Frank
Thanks for the great stories, Frank. Most of the above information was attained by cross-checking sources on ancestry sites like rootsweb.com. The weakest parts of the above diagram in my opinion are the generations prior to Robert Moone and after Maximillian Moone. I believe, based on conflicting dates, that a generation is missing between John Moone and Maximillian Moone. If anyone out there has any information pertaining to the generations in question, your input would be greatly appreciated! (And of course, information pertaining to other branches of the family outlined by this site is always welcome!)
