(as told by Elizabeth Perkins Buchheit)
They laughed a lot in Vernon’s family. Oh dear, they always had a lot of fun. They had that great sense of humor. I knew Cecil and he was just funnier than anything. I just enjoyed them all very, very much. They all worked very hard. When Cecil retired from the Navy, he retired as a civilian. They gave him a very excellent job in the acoustical lab at the Submarine Base in New London, Connecticut. He had more research papers than anybody else there. He was very, very intelligent. He didn’t have any children.
