(as told by Vernon Work Myers)
When I learned to drive I had to take the driver’s test a couple of times. I just wasn’t ready for it. The driver’s test was pretty silly. They blocked off the street. You had to turn the car around in the street without touching the curb or stalling the engine. I think the first time I stalled the engine so I flunked the test. After you drove, you answered questions. One of the questions was, “Is it easier going around a curb if you’re on the inside or outside?” I’m not sure that question has a good answer at all. When I passed that test I never felt so relieved. I waved my hands in the air and said, “I have a license! I’m a driver!”
